Ready, Player One
My journey to becoming The Play Priest began in Brooklyn, NY, where play was simply the order of the day. From earning quarters to play Bad Dudes at the laundromat to street games like Skelly and Manhunt, play shaped how I saw the world. Those moments taught me early on that life itself is one big game — not just recreation, but a way of being. Years later, when I finally brought an arcade machine into my home, it felt like my ancestors were reminding me that the spirit of play had been guiding me all along.
Why does he play?
As I grew older, life became more serious. My focus shifted to working hard, overcoming imposter syndrome, and living up to society’s image of a “grown man.” Play was pushed aside, dismissed as a hobby, even something to be ashamed of. But after being initiated into priesthood, I discovered something deeper — play was sacred. It wasn’t an escape; it was a way to heal, connect, and return to my true self. I came to know the Spirit of Play as a living energy, one I now honor and commune with.
Today, my work is rooted in this truth. As a Play Practitioner — known as The Play Priest — I see play as both joy and spiritual practice, a compass for living authentically. Life itself is the ultimate game: ever-present, always unfolding. Through my work, I help others reconnect with their innate playfulness, remember who they are, and return to joy — one sacred game at a time.
